The use of electrical energy is currently increasing along with the increasing human population, especially in Indonesia. Electrical energy has now become one of the basic needs that are widely used in everyday life. The increase in the use of electrical components causes an increase in the need for electrical energy such as the use of heating elements. Electric heating elements are electrical devices that are widely used for various purposes because they are easy to use and their energy sources are easy to obtain. This study aims to determine the temperature distribution and heating rate that occurs in the heating element using 2 (two) different temperature measuring instruments so that more accurate data is obtained. This study was conducted by utilizing 2 (two) measuring instruments that have different characteristics, namely thermocouples and thermoguns. From the research that has been carried out, the measurement accuracy of the thermocouple is higher than using a thermogun, such as in the temperature distribution measured by the thermocouple, a maximum temperature of 557 ⁰C was obtained, while for the thermogun a maximum of 556 ⁰C was obtained. The heating rate obtained by each measuring instrument also has a difference in the thermocouple, the maximum heating rate obtained is 5.03 ⁰C/s with an average of 3.76 ⁰C/s, while using a thermogun the maximum heating rate achieved is 5.05 ⁰C/s with an average of 2.93 ⁰C/s.
